Retreats & Teaching
For over 30 years, I have facilitated retreats, congregational quiet days, weekends of reflection for governing boards, gatherings of clergy and monastics, diocesan events, and online courses.
In all of these settings, my aim is to help participants authentically engage with the wisdom and practices offered by spiritual traditions.
In order to create a learning community, I avoid a purely didactic approach, augmenting my talks with experiential and interactive elements, including guided contemplative prayer, and, at times, singing traditional gospel and spiritual songs from the American South.
I’ve worked quite a bit with Episcopal clergy - through CREDO wellness conferences, and through diocesan retreats in places such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Long Island, Missouri, Chicago, Florida, and Massachusetts. In these gatherings I often speak about the spiritual challenges and opportunities found in the everyday life of ministry, viewed through a contemplative lens.
